Biography
John was born in 1762 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. His parents are unknown but his maternal grandfather was John Baird.
John had a brother William.
About 1775, John's family moved to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
John served in Alexander McGrew's company under Colonel Baird on the western frontier with his brother Wiliam during 1779, 1780 and 1781.
John married Jennet McClelland, daughter of David McClelland.
John and Jennet were the parents of Priscilla (1789), John (1793), William (1794), Catherine, and James (1799).
About 1802, John moved to Jefferson County, Ohio Territory.
In 1816, John moved to Wayne County, Ohio.
John died on January 4, 1838.
