Veit's date and place of birth and his parents are not known, as there are no church records from the period in question.
On October 12, 1655, Veit married Maria Eberhardt from Wittendorf near Freudenstadt, Duchy of Württemberg. In the marriage register entry the couple's parents are not given. The entry contains only the information that Maria came from Wittendorf.

In the baptismal register of Wittendorf only the birth of the following child of the couple is recorded:

1. Hans Jerg, born on 20 May 1663, married Catharina Graf from Glatten 13 June 1687 in Wittendorf, died 8 January 1735 in Wittendorf.

On 30 May 1663, 10 days after the birth of her child, Maria died. No cause of death is given in the burial register. In view of the close temporal connection, however, one can assume that Maria died of complications during or after the birth.

One year later, on 30 May 1664, Veit married Maria Haug from Wittendorf.
Their children were:

1. Matthias, born 24 February 1665 in Wittendorf.
2. Johannes, born 29 October 1666 and buried 19 January 1667 in Wittendorf.
3. Jacobus, born 28 January 1668 and died 4 April 1678 in Wittendorf.
4. Johannes, born 26 February 1670 in Wittendorf, married Maria Geiger from Grömbach 7 October 1694 in Wittendorf, died 13 January 1756 in Wittendorf.
5. Vitus, born 28 January 1672 and died 18 March 1672 in Wittendorf.
6. Michael, born 18 February 1674 and died 4 January 1678 in Wittendorf.

In the Wittendorf burial register there is no legible entry for the death of Veit Schmid. He probably died in the period 1678 to 1694, because in the entries about the death of his sons Michael (died 4 January 1678) and Jacobus (died 4 April 1678) it is not yet noted that Veit already died. In the marriage register entry for the marriage of his son Johannes on 7 October 1694, it is noted that the father of the groom was deceased.
