Biography

Donald Sandison is a member of Clan Gunn.

Donald Sandison was named as the father of Janet Sandison on the latter's 1854 baptism record.

In 1861 Donald was living at "Barns of Hempriggs" near Wick. This farm still exists today. Donald said he was a farmer of 170 acres and was living there with his wife, children and farm servants. These servants included John Meiklejohn, Donald Finlayson, John Gilchrist, Elisabeth McGregor, Isabella Sutherland and Barbara Cowper.

Donald gave his place of birth as Watten on the 1861 census return. Based on the years and locations of the birth of his children, it seems likely that Donald left Watten for the farm outside Wick circa 1859/1860.
