Biography

John Staats Sager was born in 1795 in Richmond, Lennox, Upper Canada to parents Johannes Sager and Elizabeth (Van Der Burgh) Sager

John married Elizabeth Oliver about 1816 in Fredericksburgh, Lennox, Canada West. Elizabeth and John Sager had 11 children;

John and Elizabeth lived in Richmond Township, Lennox County, Canada West in 1851. Five of their children were still living at home and several of John's brothers lived nearby.^[1]

John's wife died before 1861 and John moved in with his son Stanton (Staats) Sager and family. He stayed with them until his death in 1878 in Dresden, Kent, Ontario.^[2][3]

John died in 1878 and was buried in Dresden Cemetery in Dresden, Chatham-Kent Municipality, Ontario, Canada . His son Stanton was buried there as well and they share the same headstone.^[4]
