Biography

Maria was born May 1832 in the village of Engelswies, Baden-Württemberg. She was a child of Michael (Rösch) Raish (1808-abt.1881) and Maria Ann (Fröhlich) Raish (1800-1877)^[1].

In 1851, the family emigrated from Germany to the United States, likely to the area around Allegany, New York^[2]. By 1854 most of the children of the family, including Maria, had married^[3][4][5].

Maria married Frank Wörner (Warner), also from Baden-Württemberg. The couple had 10 children between 1853 and 1877. The family lived in Western New York State for nearly 15 years, then migrated to Wisconsin sometime between 1868-1870. In the 1870 census, the family lived in Winneconne, Wisconsin, and Frank worked in a sawmill.^[6].

In the 1880 census, the family farmed in Little Black, Wisconsin^[7]. Maria was widowed in 1888^[8].

In the 1900 census, Maria remained a farmer in Little Black, with two grown children living with her^[9].

Maria died in October, 1910, in Little Black, and was buried in the same cemetery as her husband^[10].
