Biography

Arthur Goldie Rutherford was born at Epsom Road in Riccarton, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand on 24th January 1885, the son of James Rutherford and his wife Elizabeth Lapsley McJarrow.

On 9th June 1908 he married Olive May Roberts at the home of WJ Roberts at New Plymouth in Taranaki. The couple are believed to have had eight children, two daughters and six sons. Their first child died when he was three months old.

Arthur died at New Plymouth on 30th August 1966 at the age of 81. On 1st September he was buried alongside his wife at Te Henui Cemetery in New Plymouth, in Alpha Block Row DB - East Plot 5.^[1]
