Wilhelm Adolf Johan Runge was born on 3 September 1870 in Mulsow. [1] He was the son of Christian Joachim Heinrich Runge and Dorothea Christiane Johanna Weitendorf. [1]
He immigrated to the United States about 1871. [2]
He appeared in the 1880 US Census in Green Garden, Will County, Illinois. [3] He was living with his parents and his siblings Henry, Louise, Edward, August, Mina, and Emma. [3]
He married Harriet Eberhardt on 12 September 1900 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. [4] [5] They had two children:
He appeared in the 1910 US Census in Osceola, Polk County, Nebraska. [2] He was living with his wife Haddie and their son Robert. [2] He was a farmer. [2]

He died on 16 May 1922 in Osceola. [5] He was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort, Will County, Illinois. [7]

DEATH OF WILLIAM RUNGE
The death of William Runge occurred at his home in the west part of the city at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning, after an illness extending over several months. A short service was held at the home yesterday morning. Rev. Thomas Barr of the Presbyterian church officiating and the remains, accompanied by his widow and little son, were taken back to his former home at Frankfort, Ill., for interment and the funeral will be held there tomorrow.
William Adolph Runge was born in Mecklinburg, Germany, September 3, 1871 and was one of the ten children born to Christopher and Dora Runge. He came with his parents to Will County, Ill., in October 1872, where his boyhood days were spent, and was married in Chicago to Miss Hattie Eberhart September 12, 1900. He moved with his family to Osceola Nebraska, arriving here February 10, 1910 and has since. resided here. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and little son, Robert John, four brothers and four sisters. They are John of Chicago, Herman and Edward of Frankfort, Ill., and Chas. of Joliet and the sisters are Mrs. Herman Ludwig of Okarche, Oklahoma, Mrs. Louis Reis of Plymouth, Wis., Mrs. Fred Koenning of Chicago and Mrs. John Felton of Manteno, Ill. Mr. Runge's eldest sister died a year ago this month.
The deceased was brought up in the Lutheran faith and during his residence here has been known as a cordial gentleman of strict integrity and had the respect of all who knew him. He united with the Presbyterian church here during the ministry of Rev. Alverson, and his life in our midst has been that of a consistent practitioner of the faith he professed.
