At Green Island, on the 23th inst., the death occurred of Mrs Campbell, relict of John Campbell, storekeeper and postmaster of Green Island for almost half a century. The deceased lady, who was a daughter of the late Mr Richard Runciman. of Kingston Vale, Green Island, arrived at Port Chalmers with her parents in the ship Rajah in 1853. Soon after arrival Mr Runciman, who was an elder of the Free Church of Scotland, Dirlton (sic), Haddingtonshire, where Mrs Campbell was born, took up farming at Green Island. In 1863 deceased was married to Mr Campbell, and had resided in Green Island ever since. The deceased is survived by three daughters, two sons, and six grandchildren. The eldest son (Mr Richard Campbell) manages the business of his late father; and George, the second son, is manager of the firm of Kemp, Campbell, and Co. Young street, Sydney. Mrs Campbell and her husband were attached to the Christadelphian Church. [6]
