Sanford was born in 1818. He was the son of Benjamin Rowlett and Rachel Wisehart. He passed away in 1900.

In the 1850 census Sanford was indexed as L M. He was in Calloway, Kentucky, United States.^[2] In the 1860 census, T (age 42) was in Jackson Township, Polk, Missouri, United States.^[3] In the 1870 census Sanford was in Castor Township, Stoddard, Missouri, United States.^[4]

Sanford was in Ripley County, Missouri according to the 1876 Missouri State Census.^[5]

Sanford is listed in "Ancestors, descendants and cousins of Samuel Smith and Martishia Smoot" by Dallas Smith on page 226.
