Many trees continue to perpetuate information since proven incorrect, namely that he died in Dec 1852.
The matching death entry for this is in the 1st qtr of 1853 and is for a 2 yr old.
In addition a family letter received in New Zealand in 1861 from his niece refer to James as nearly blind. (Census data shows him as living with this niece)
Yes there is James Rowe marrying in 1793 in Exeter to a widow Elizabeth Warren, who appear to have produced at least four children
James 1793, Thomas 1798, Philip 1801, Edward 1803
But "our" James appears in census data living with his sister Hannah (Trimble) in 1841 & 51 and as a "boarder" in 1861 with his niece Sarah (Davey), all show him as unmarried.
He would also have only been 15 when married in 1793 if this was him - not impossible, just unlikely.
