Biography

Eleanor Rowe was born on the 21 June 1789, and baptized on the 28 June 1789 at the Parish Church of Saint Sithney, in the Village of Sithney, Parish of Sithney, north of the fishing Port of Porthleven, in Cornwall, England^[1]. She was the daughter of William Rowe and Jane Drew.

Eleanor married John Bunt on the 18 May 1813 at the Parish Church of Saint Sithney, in the Village of Sithney, Parish of Sithney, north of the fishing Port of Porthleven, in Cornwall, England. Both were living in the parish at the time of the wedding. The couple were married by the Vicar, L. (Lindeman) in the presence of William (Rowe) and William (Buck)^[2]. Seven (7) children were born to the couple during their union. John died in 1828, leaving her a widow with young children.

However, by 1841, now 50, Eleanor lived with her married brother, William (45); his wife, Prudence (30); their children William (4) and John (3) and Domestic Servant, Mary Ann (Semmens) (20). The family lived in the Village of Porthleven, near the Town of Helston, in the Parish of Sithney, in Cornwall, England^[3]. By 1851, Eleanor (60) had moved to live with her married daughter, Jane Rowe (Bunt/Veall) (36); Jane's husband, Master Ropemaker (employing 4 men), Martin (Veall) (44); their children Scholars, Martin (9), Jane (7), Elizabeth (4), Emily (3) and Eleanor (9 months). Her other married daughter, Elizabeth (Bunt/Care) (32) and her daughter, Elizabeth (Care) (8) also lived with them north of the Hamlet of Trevassack, on the Lizard Peninsular, south of the Village of Garras, Parish of Phillack, in Cornwall, England^[4].
