Slave Owners
Owners are inferred based on the few known facts regarding her mother. There are no documents or testimonials in Katie's records to narrow the scope of inquiry or pinpoint which Harnage home she was bound to.
It is not completely clear whether Katie was born surnamed Vann or Rowe. At one point in her application, the interviewer noted her as Katie Taylor nee Vann, but Katie's first husband was surnamed Vann also. If Katie was born as Vann, it would indicate her mother and she were at that time owned by Avery Vann or his son, Avery was father-in-law of David Rowe, owner of Malinda's husband, Jesse Rowe.
