Biography

As is often the case with "foreign" names from this time period, there is confusion around the spelling of the last name. This often resulted from illiteracy and perhaps the need to make a french name more americanized in spelling. Whatever the case, the last name of ROWE is correct.

Born 15 Aug 1858. Erie, Monroe, Mi. ^[1] Erie, Mi. 15 Aug 1858. ^[2] The tombstone says 1853 but it looks like it was replaced and a 3 and 8 can be mistaken on an old tombstone so I am for now going with my records that were both handed down and found in multiple places including Census Records till proven different (KL)
