Biography
Harriet L Roby was born about 3 Dec 1828 [1] in Ohio, the daughter of Ledstone and Sarah (Fitzgerald) Roby.
In 1850 she was 21 years old and living with her mother and siblings in Butler County, Ohio. Her future husband John Marshall Boyd was listed with his family two households later in the census, with John's brother Abram's household in between, so they likely lived nearby and knew each other. [2]
She married John Marshall Boyd on 10 Mar 1858 in Butler County, Ohio. [3] Their daughter Ella was born soon afterwards, and they also had an infant son who died young. [4]
In 1860, Harriet and John were living in Butler County, Ohio. They were listed in the census next to her mother Sarah Roby's household. Harriet appears to have also been ennumerated with her maiden name in her mother's household, and her daughter Ella was listed as Ella Fitzgerald in her mother's household. [5]
Harriet died on 10 Mar 1862, at the age of 33 years, 3 months and 7 days and was buried at Mound Cemetery in Monroe, Butler, Ohio. [1]
