Joseph Robson was born in County Durham, England.

Joseph Hall Robson of of Rumby Hill was born in Witton Gilbert on 28 February 1799 and was the fourth son of William Robson and Margery Hall.^[1]

Joseph married Elizabeth Manners in Auckland, County Durham, on 18 January 1825 and they had ten children.^[2]

On the 1871 census, Joseph, a widower, is living on Fulton Terrace, Shildon, County Durham, with his daughter, Elizabeth, her husband, Thomas Hunt, and their daughter, Louisa, aged 3 years. Joseph's youngest son, William, is also living with them and is a clockmaker like his father.^[6]

On the 1881 census, Joseph, a clockmaker, is living at 17 Quarry Top, Shildon, County Durham, with his daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband, Thomas, who is a farmer. Elizabeth and Thomas have a daughter, Louise, aged 14 years.^[7]

Joseph Hall Robson died, aged 84 years, in Shildon, County Durham, on 13 April 1883.^[8]
