Biography

Ethel (Robson) Lumsden was born in County Durham, England.

Ethel Robson was born on the 5th May 1888 in Shildon, County Durham, England to William and Esther Robson. Ethel had two brothers, George and Harry.

In 1912 Ethel married James William Lumsden Inn Shildon, County Durham, England. Ethel and James had two sons together- Harry Lumsden was born in May 1916 and Frank Lumsden was born in 1920. The family remained in Shildon.

When both Harry and Frank were serving in the Middle East during the war Ethel died suddenly in 1941. The boys were not informed about their mothers death until they returned home nearly a year after WWII ended. Ethel died due to a heart attack, this was also documented as Broken Heart Syndrome.
