Hello to everyone out there interested in Ancestry. I am relatively new to the search but have become vert interested. Although my last name is Robinson I never knew my father or anything about him. My mothers maiden name was Carter, Lois Carter, so it is the Carter name that I am the most familiar. My mothers father was William Elbert Carter of Tennessee and her mother was Lizzie Florence Anders of North Carolina, I know nothing of my grandmothers side of the family. Williams father and mother (my great grandparents was Samuel Henry Carter of Tennessee and Eliza Jane Brady of Tennessee. Samuel's father and mother (my 2nd great grandparents) was Henry (Thomas?) Carter and Sarah Amanda Quinton, Henry was from Tennessee/North Carolina and Sarah was from South Carolina although some say she was from Tennessee. Her mother and father was Samuel Quinton and Lucinda McDuffie from South Carolina. The 1840 census show Samuel and Lucinda having a little girl age 4 in SC. The 1850 census in TN shows Samuel and Lucinda having a girl age 14,, its easy to trace this family. Samuel and Lucinda would be my 3rd great grandparents on the Quinton side. I knew my mothers parents and spent time with them. I have a little more but am looking for a lot more. If anyone has any information on either the Carter family name I have listed or the Quinton's and would be willing to share it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck to all out there looking for past family members!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

How has adding your DNA to genesis.gedmatch helped you? I see that we have very small matches on a lot of chromosomes (smile). Our longest is 3.3 cM so not enough to be a match but fun to look at.
At any rate I just wanted to check in with you and see how things are going. If you have any questions let me know!

I'm happy to hear things are going well! Have you tried uploading it to gedmatch.com? You can enter your Ancestry DNA info on your profile without using the actual test - we don't take test uploads here. Let me know if you have questions!
