Biography
Sampson was born about 1795 somewhere in the western Virginia frontier. He spent much of his life in different places that were often lightly settled.
Possibly he was married to Jane Toler in the region that is now Wyoming county WV, where his daughter Rhoda was later married. This region was then part of Logan county. Sampson appears on the tax lists or census there at least from 1824 to 1840.
Sampson Robinette 14 Aug 1827 Logan County, acquired 40 acres on Big fork of Guyandotte, Grants No 76 page 246.
By 1850 he has relocated his family to Russell county:

His wife Jane seems to pass away sometime after the 1850 census. Sampson married Selah (Celia) Lambert (1818-1887) about 27 April 1853 in Tazewell county Virginia.

Curtis Milton
The spouse of Sampson Robinette is Jane Toler, per testimony from their daughter Christina in a Tazewell county court case involving Rhoda (Robinette) Perdue. This case also verifies that Rhoda is a sister and daughter of Sampson and Jane. I cannot find the command to change Jane's birth name to Toler - McGraw is incorrect. This name possibly comes from Christina herself being in an unmarried relationship with a McGraw but this has no connection to Jane.
