I have an extensive tree on Ancestry. My id is janicekh1 and the tree is Robertson/Eaves/Barnes/Reeder...... I have done DNA on myself, sister, and 4 Robertson cousins trying to break down our common brick wall Christopher Columbus Robertson b. 1824 and d. 1878 in Hickman County, TN, USA. My GEDmatch # is A360957.
Many trees have the parents of Christopher Columbus Robertson as Archer F Robertson and Mary Frances Fowlkes. The only information I have ever found that links them as parents is from a RootsWeb page "Speculation on Genealogy Along Walker's Line, incl. Todd Co KY" http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.todd/2087/mb.ashx On this page is a link to an index of names and Christopher is found there with his parents listed as Archer and Mary Frances. But there also is listed as Christopher's son George Washington Robertson. While my Christopher did indeed have a son George Washington Robertson he does not fit the information noted there. That George is the son of Moses Robertson. None of us 6 share DNA with 3 of their well documented descendants. I can find no further documentation to support the genealogies listed in this index.
So I have finally found a willing male direct descendant to do Y-DNA! So here's hoping......

You've been a member of WikiTree for about a week so I am checking in to see how it is going.
Have the tips in the New Member How-Tos been helpful? Most of us still have some questions after reviewing them.
I see that your GEDCOM loaded OK. Do you have questions about the GEDCOMpare process?
I'm here to help with questions about how WikiTree works. Click my name to send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. I'll get back to you by the end of the day.

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
I tried to contact the last person who sent me a message like this Carole Partridge but I got "Servor Error" when I sent it and when I looked at her profile it looks like she hasn't been on since 2018.
I have not been able to contact a cousin who had entered 2 of our common ancestors couple that did not come up when I entered them until I went to enter her mother. She had entered so little info that I guess it didn't pick them up as possible matches. I have written her through message, through asking to be Trusted, through merging pointing out that since hers are older they will be still be hers but it will just add the extra info I have added. I have been writing her since early February with no response. I have read that you can see if she is still active and try to check with her...Dolores Dunn-9459. I would appreciate if you could check on her for me. Janice Hall
Yes, there is a way to determine if a member is still active. To do that, visit their profile and click the Contributions link under their name. When I checked Dolores' contributions list, it shows she has not made any since August 2017.
You have already tried all the things that are recommended to make contact. At this point, visit one of the profiles that you would like to improve. Click the Family Tree & Tools tab, then scroll all the way to the bottom. There you will find a link for the Unresponsive Profile Manager process. Fill that out and submit it. The Team will try one last time to contact her and, assuming no response, will go through the process to either orphan the profiles she has created or make someone else the manager. Be sure to let them know if you want to manage all profiles she created or only select ones.
Please do let me know if you have any questions about how WikiTree works, even if they seem minor. My rule of thumb when I started was to search for an answer for five minutes, then reach out to my Greeters, and then resume searching. I might have found the answer before they got back to me but they sometimes offered a different way of doing the same thing which was easier. We are always here to help.
See you in the branches,

A warm welcome to WikiTree. You are now a full member and can add your family to the big tree!
Click here to start with our New Member How-To Pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have. You never know when you will find a lost family member or ancestor. Or maybe find a hidden family secret about an ancestor. Genealogy to me is like being a detective looking for clues into the past.
Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile as the links will work from there.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and youll be on your way!
Welcome to the family! Were really glad youre here.
