Carolyn Robertson Watkins NORTHPORT Carolyn Robertson Watkins, age 77, of Northport, died June 18, 2009, at Sansing Country Home in Carrolton, Ala. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Watkins; parents, Levert and Miriam Robertson; sister, Sara McMullen Sharp; and brother, John Robertson. Survivors include her daughters, Carmie Carr (Ray), Rita Wilson (John) and Leanne Holifield (Kent); sister, Mary Barzeal; brother, James Robertson; sisters-in-law, Carol Robertson and Lavada Walker (Capron); brothers-in-law, Albert Watkins (Zoe) and Roscoe Watkins; grandchildren, Jodie Kizziah, Jason Carr, Kadi-Rae Carr, Leanne Carr, Lee Evans (Fallon), Stephanie Evans and Forrest, Leah and Laura Holifield; great-grandchildren, Logan Gray, Brodie Kizziah, Kenli and Brylan Carr, Cayden Baggett, Maddox Carr and Fisher Evans; and nieces, Pat Mays and Karen Stone. Carolyn Robertson Watkins entered into the gates of heaven June 18, 2009. She was a lifetime member of Northport Baptist Church, a former employee and volunteer of Northport Medical Center-DCH, a member of the Elysian Club and the Northport Baptist Trailblazers. As a local Dippin' Dots Franchisee, Carolyn opened up franchises in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Ala. She loved University of Alabama sports, especially women basketball and gymnastics. As a loving mother and grandmother, she loved attending any event that involved her family. She was a "Second" mother to many. Pallbearers will be nephews, Jimmy Robertson, Fred Robertson, Johnny Robertson, Jerry Brazeal, Tommy McMullen, and Doster McMullen. Honorary pallbearers are Florea Sansing, Tammy Kent, all employees at Sansing Assisted Living, Amy, Sharon and Feleicia at Sansing Country Home, Howell Sunday School class at Northport Baptist Church and friends in the Northport community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association.
