James was born about 1828 in Scotland. He and his wife farmed in Goderich Township in 1861and 1871. [1][2] They were still in Goderich Township, Ontario in 1881and then had eight children at home. [3] By 1891, he had moved his family to Manitoba. [4] He passed away 28 Oct 1898.
