Biography

Jane was born on 10 August 1882 in Arbroath, Forfarshire (Angus), Scotland, the daughter of Andrew Robertson and Jessie Robertson.[1]

In the 1891 census Jane, aged 18, lived in Arbroath with her parents Andrew, aged 39, and Jessie, aged 35, as well as siblings Jessie Robertson, aged 16, Andrew Robertson, aged 14, Elspeth, aged 6, and David, aged 5.[2]

In the 1901 census Jane, aged 18, lived in Arbroath with her mother Jessie, aged 45, and siblings Elspeth W, aged 16, David, aged 14, and William, aged 9.[3]

Jane married James Christie on 25 October 1901 in Arbroath.[4]. They had four children:

  1. Jessie Robertson Christie
  2. Ethel Fyffe Christie
  3. Eveline Christie
  4. Agnes Milne Christie

In the 1911 census Jane, aged 28, lived in Arbroath with her husband James, aged 30, and children Jessie Robertson, aged 6, Ethel Fyffe, aged 5, Eveline, aged 4, and Agnes Milne, who was less than one year old.[5]

Jane's husband James's death at age 35 was registered in 1916 in the Arbroath district.[6]

Jane married James Stewart on 9 October 1920 in the Arbroath and St Vigeans district.[7] They had one child.

In the 1921 census Jane, aged 40, lived in Arbroath with her second husband James Stewart, aged 57.[8]

Jane died at age 59 on 17 October 1941 in Arbroath.[9]

Research Notes

Jane and James Christie may have had a first born child James, whose birth was registered in 1902 in the Arbroath district.[10] James's death at age 0 was registered in 1902 in the Arbroath district.[11] More detailed research required.
