Biography

Martha Ann Robe Kerns was the daughter of William Robe and Hannah Austin.

She married Francis Marion Kerns 29 May 1868 in Monongalia County, West Virginia. [1]

1870 Census, Clinton District, Monongalia, West Virginia at [2] FamilySearch has not indexed this family. Writing is so faint as to be barely readable. Stamped page 330, line 15, dwelling 217, family 213 Hannah Robe age 76 b PA keep house; Martha Kerns age 33 b WV; F M Kerns age 26 b WV farmer; William E. Kerns age 1 b WV.

She was the mother of William Ellsworth Kerns, Henrietta Kerns Moran, Jacob Elum Kerns, Verna Bell "Laverna" Kerns Cox, and Thomas Kerns.

She died after giving birth to Thomas Kerns. Thomas lived seven days after birth.
