Biography

Gouke Rienks (Hazewindus), born about 1773^[1] in Gorredijk, son of Rienk Pyters and Romkjen Jacobs. He drowned 2 November 1825 in the Oosterschelde in Zeeland, 52 years old

On November 2, 1825 on the North end of the Zandkreek Gouke Rinks Hazewindus fell overboard when the anchor was raised. The next day, November 3, clothes were found ashore. On 3 February 1826, the drowning person was found and reported to the authorities. On February 18, 1826, his father, Rink Goukes Hazewindes and his brother Zeger Rinks Hazewindus declared that it was Gouke Rinks Hazewindus^[2]
