Biography
Jemima was born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire in 1812[1][2] and her father was Thomas Richardson, a Shoemaker[3]. She married George Rumford, a Blacksmith, on 15 March 1841 at Gainsborough All Saints Parish Church; the witnesses were Christopher Lewis and Ann Richardson (possibly her mother)[3].
Jemima and George had no known children.
Sortly after their marriage, at the time of the 1841 Census, the couple were living in Pellard House Yard in Gainsborough[4]. The Rumfords then moved to Lincoln; in May 1848 Jemima Rumford had a gown skirt stolen by a lodger[5] and in 1857 George Rumford, Blacksmith was to be found at 11 Westgate in Lincoln[6].
George and Jemima left Lincoln and moved to Newark in Nottingamshire. In 1851 they lived at Balderton Gate and George was a White Smith (Journeyman) [1] and ten years later they were in Cross Lane Newark[2]
Jemima passed away in the district of Lincoln in 1864 [7]. She was buried at St Swithins churchyard on 31 Oct 1864[8]
