Biography

Birth and Parents

Joseph Richardson was a New Hampshirite.

Joseph, the third of nine sons of John Richardson and Bethiah Herrick was born on 13 August 1793 at Lyndesborough, New Hampshire.[1]

Marriage

Joseph, a carpenter and joiner, married Jane Decker (1802-1860) say 1817 at Dansville, New York. [Needs source]. They had ten children:

  1. Sarah Richardson (b. 1818; d. 1899), m. James H. Wilber (1818-1900)
  2. Bethiah Richardson (b. 1822; d. 1907), m. say 1842 at Livingston, NY, David B. Shull (1811-1891)

1850 and 1860 Census Records

In 1850, Joseph (56 years), employed as a carpenter in the construction industry and Jane (47 years) were living at North Dansville, Livingston, New York with their children John W Richardson (19 years), Jane Richardson (16 years), Isabella Richardson (14 years), Martha Richardson (12 years), Alex F Richardson (10 years) and Johannah Richardson (8 years).[3]

The 1860 census indicates that Joseph (59 years), occupation Carpenter and Jane (56 years) were still residing at North Dansville, Livingston, New York with their children Alonzo Richardson (29 years), occupation Farm Laborer, Jane Richardson (26 years), Alexander Richardson (20 years), occupation Laborer, and Johannah Richardson (18 years). [4]

Death and Burial

Joseph H. Richardson died on 3 August 1863 in his 70th year at Dansville, New York and is buried in the Green Mount Cemetery at Dansville, Livingston, New York.[5]
