Biography

Louisiana Families Project Logo
born in Louisiana

I became interested in genealogy as a teenager. I would comb through obituaries and write down the names of children and grandchildren of the deceased. I have been researching online since 2009, when I joined ancestry.com. Since then I have found many family members. I have help not online my family but others find ancestors they never knew about. It brings a smile to my face when I see people get emotional when they found out new information. I love genealogy.

Joshua was born in 1989. [1]

Hi! The Louisiana Sticker is causing a database error. To change the default wording (lived in Louisiana), use the parameter "text" & whatever follows will be the sticker text. For example {Louisiana Sticker|text=Born in Louisiana}
Louisiana Families Project Logo
Born in Louisiana

Hi Josh,

I recently sent you a request to be added to the trusted list for Gow-705 , but haven't heard back from you. I'm happy to resend the request if you haven't received it. Thanks Gillian

What is your relationship to the Scott’s ?

Hi Josh, please open Thomas-50146 so that she can be connected to her relatives. She needs a Notables sticker if she doesn't have one. Thank you!

I was looking at Anita Pointer's site and saw that not only were her brothers not included but her sister Ruth is listed twice. You should get together with Travis Collins Collins-15214 and fix that.
Hi Josh. How are you related to the Briscoe's

Yes, I am related to the Briscoes.

Hi Josh, is Thompson-64526 the actress Tessa? If so, can you add Wikitree Notables to her Trusted List so we can get her attached to her family? Thanks.

Hi Josh! I see you've started exploring DNA testing, which is terrific. However, you need to add the sources for the DNA confirmations on the profiles you've marked confirmed (like this one) -- otherwise suggestions pop up. Check https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:DNA_Confirmation#How_to_Add_Source_Citations for a step by step guide.

thanks!

Hi Josh, we'd like to feature Mary J. Blige soon. Could you add the US Black Heritage Team to Blige-1? If you don't know how to do that, send me a message and I'll help. We'd really appreciate it!

to the profile of Lorena (Senegal) Jolivette (1917-2006) and connected her to her parents.

I am also sending you a request to join the trusted list for her descendants so that I can also make updates to these families as these are relatives of my son-in-law. Thanks! Denise

Hi Josh,

I removed the text that had been copied from Wikipedia into the profile of Suzzanne Douglas, Douglas-13250.

WikiTree's guidelines say we shouldn't be duplicating Wikipedia's content on WikiTree, and that instead we should just link to the Wikipedia article. You can read more about this in Help:Copying from Wikipedia: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Copying_from_Wikipedia

Thank you for helping to improve our shared tree!

Hi Josh,

As Emma indicated, we really appreciate all your efforts in creating profiles on WikiTree. Unfortunately, your Watchlist now has 10942 profiles. This is very large. Our systems are designed to handle 5,000. Contributing to more than 5,000 profiles is great (the community thanks you for it!) but don't feel you have to keep so many on your Watchlist. Despite the terminology, there is no shame in "orphaning" Open profiles. :-) This invites others to share responsibility. Since you have more than 10,000, Bulk Trusted List changes tool may not work for you. If so, please contact the team for help reducing your Watchlist.

Hi Josh, I appreciate you creating profiles of notables, which we definitely need more of, but I sent you a message a while back about not copy/pasting WikiPedia articles as their biographies. This is copyright infringement and isn't always well formatted. It would be great if you summarized the most important parts of the articles and found other sources to add to the WikiPedia article (such as genealogy sources). Thanks, Emma
Hi Josh I see that you have my Daddy siblings as half siblings and they are not...

Wow! I just checked if we were related because of your Louisiana connections and sure enough, we're 8th cousins twice removed through https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Richard-80 Martin Richard b. 1665. Nice! Emma :-)

Hi Josh and welcome to WikiTree. So glad you're here! I added you to the trusted list for Bobby Brown and Emily Drinkard. Please send me a private message if you need access to any other profiles managed by the US Black Heritage Project and I'll be happy to get you set up. Any profiles with an open lock privacy, you should be able to edit without being on the trusted list. I'd also like to invite you to join the US Black Heritage Project. We've got great things going on and we love to have you be a part of it.

Hi Josh, welcome to WikiTree! I've noticed that your newly created profiles have cited references such as "ancestry records" or "census records" etc. This is a friendly reminder that vague source citations such as these are not adequate sources on WikiTree. More citation details are needed, so that anyone reading or researching the profile will know exactly where the record can be found and how it can be accessed. If it's from an online archive, also including a link to the record would be desirable. This is important for all profiles, and proper sourcing is part of what we agreed to when we signed the Wikitree Honor Code.

See this page that explains more about inadequate citations. I would encourage you to please go back to the profiles you've added and source them properly according to WikiTree standards. Otherwise, these profiles will be considered as Unsourced.

Hope this helps!
