Biography

Frederick Redpath was born in the Isle of Man

James Frederick (Frederick) Redpath was born in 1899, the son of Richard Redpath and Eleanor Smith. He was known as Fred.

Fred migrated to New Zealand in 1921^[1]. He returned the Isle of Man in late 1924^[2], around the time of his father's death, he returned to the Isle of Man for a time. He became engaged, but broke off the engagement when he returned to New Zealand in Sep 1925.^[3] He worked at a timber mill at Dean Forest, South Island, New Zealand.

While serving in the New Zealand Army Forestry Section as a Sapper (No. 61433) in WW2 he married his now-widowed former girlfriend at St George's, Isle of Man on 20 Aug 1942. Her married surname was Gorry.^[4][5]

He returned to New Zealand via the USA in 1944.^[6]

He died in New Zealand in 1979.^[7]
