Biography

Uncle Andy attended school in Mountain Grove. Later he farmed in Kansas and southern Missouri. In 1914 he moved with his family to Tarkio and worked for several area farmers. After marriage, he farmed around Rockport and the Linden Community. He bought a fishing resort on the Lake of the Ozarks in 1954 and operated it until 1964 when he sold it and returned to Rockport. Thereafter, he worked at the Rockport Sales Barn and was self-employed as a carpenter. He always maintained and took great pride in his large (1 acre) vegetable garden from which he supplied his family, neighbors, and friends. He was a member of the Rockport Baptist Church at the time of his death.

Burial in the Smith Cemetery after services at the Minter Funeral Home Chapel in Rockport. Age at time of death: 91 years, 6 months, and 14 days.

I always enjoyed my visits with Uncle Andy and Aunt Mabel which were always filled with a very pleasant time of conversation. He was a very kind person and I never left their home after my visits in the summer without vegetables in hand.
