My grandmother and some of her other relatives told me a story about her parents. James took Mary and Ruby when she was just a small child to New Orleans and when he came back Mary was not with him. Mary's family told me that he would not tell them where she was and to this day know one knows what happen to her. Ruby was raised by her grandparents. My sisters even went to New Orleans looking at records trying to find any information with no luck. My grandmother Ruby even lived there at one time, she moved around a lot. The 1910 census has James, Mary, Ruby, Willie, in Stone Mountain. That is the last record I found of James, Mary or Willie. Granny Ruby said Willie did not live long. I do know that James is buried in Stone Mountain, stone but no dates in Shinn family plot, with Granny Ruby, and his parents James Davenport Shinn and Temperance E.. There was an elder Reagin that recorded the Reagin family history many years ago that gave me information for my tree, so there is a tree out there somewhere that my tree fits into with the Mary Elizabeth Reagin connection. Not discounting the information I got from my grandmother. She lived with her Reagin grandfather on the 1920 census. And I hope people don't confuse her aunt Mary Elizabeth Shinn Braden Barber with her mother.
