Elizabeth Ellen Ratcliffe was born on 10 August 1896 in Foghill, Ingleby Arncliffe near Hutton Rudby, YORKSHIRE, England, United Kingdom, daughter of John Ratcliffe (1867–1924) and Newreaniah Pratt (1864–1919).

In the 1901 census Elizabeth (age 4) was the granddaughter of John Varo Ratcliffe in Romanby, Yorkshire, England.^[1]

Elizabeth (20) married Arthur Thomas Wood (29) (born on 21 July 1887 in Ipswich; son of Fred Wood and Lydia Ann (Stokan) Wood) on 30 August 1916 in the Congregational Church, Booval, Queensland, Australia. Their known son was Douglas William Wood (24 August 1917 – 30 June 1990).

Elizabeth died on 31 May 1979 in Lauriston, Ipswich, Queensland, Australia, aged 82. She was buried in the Ipswich Cemetery.
