Flag of Ireland
Mary (Ratcliffe) Searight migrated from Ireland to New York.
Flag of New York

Mary was born on March 1,1820 in Ireland. She married William B Searight and the couple with three of their children sailed for New York city from Liverpool on the ship, the Enterprise. They moved first to Ohio, then Kentucky and then Livingston County Illinois finally settling in Vincennes, Indiana. Along the way they had 7 or possibly 8 more children.

Mary was the wife of a successful merchant who also became the mayor of Vincennes. Because of depression caused by losing the election for his fourth term as mayor, her husband shot and killed himself.

The family moved to 911 Buntin Street in Vincennes as shown by the Vincennes Indiana City Directory, 1888. She remained a widow until her death March 16, 1892 at age 72 years and 16 days. She was buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Vincennes, Indiana.
