Biography

Julian Charles (known as Taffy) was born on 21 June 1900[1] at Huntly, Waikato, New Zealand, and his birth was registered in the third quarter at Huntly[2]. He was the son of Robert Riley Ralph and Mary Muir.

In 1922 he was a chemist living at 5 O'Neill Street, Claudelands, being registered on the Hamilton Supplementary Electoral Roll No 2[3].

He married Maude Anne Perry on 18 April 1928[4] at Huntly. They had four children.

In 1935 he was a farmer living at Kimihia, Huntly with his wife Maude, both being registered on the Waikato Supplementary Electoral Roll No 1[5]. Other family members were in the same location.

In 1957 he was a farmer living at 9 William Street, Huntly with his wife Maude and son Terence a tractor operator, all three being registered on the Raglan Electoral Roll[6]. By 1981 they had retired and were living at Ralph Road, Huntly, both being on the Rangiriri Composite Electoral Roll[7].

Julian died on 16 June 1991[8]. He was buried in Huntly (Kimihia) Cemetery, Huntly[9].
