Biography

Jane Bonser (Poxon) is recorded as the mother of daughters Hannah (b 1848) and Rebecca, and as the wife of James Bonser in the 1861 census. The transcript shows she was born in Derbyshire in Wilne Mills. She was baptised in Little Wilne (wherein lies Wilne Mills) on 21 November 1813. This is a hamlet around a water mill on the River Derwent with a church and a few buildings and also known as Church Wilne or Little Wilne. Further search found Jane Poxson of Draycott (a village neighbouring Wilne Mills and in the same parish) married James Bonser after banns in Breedon on the Hill in 1839. She is also recorded as marrying James Bonsal [sic] on 03 March 1839, after banns (recording James's name as Bonsall) read on the consecutive Sundays of 17 and 24 February and 03 March 1839 in Wilne parish church. Jane died in 1891 aged 78, in the same parish, Breedon on the Hill, where she had lived with her family
