Biography

Linda Lou (Pope) Garber, age 73, Peru, passed away peacefully with her husband, Connie Wayne Garber by her side Tuesday afternoon due to heart complications, December 6th, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born September 6th, 1943 to Cecil and Mary (Spurgeon) Pope, Peru, Indiana. She Married Connie Wayne Garber June 7th, 1961. He was by her side when she passed on Tuesday afternoon.

She was the proud mother to 3 children: Traci Hammer, Denise Garber and Brian Garber (wife Kelli). Linda was a dear grandmother to Courtney Mckillip, Elizabeth Garber, Donovan Lamb, Kristina Garber, Zachary Tyra and Matthew Tyra. She was also blessed with great grandchildren, Jazlyn, Mya, Hailey Mckillip and Joshua

Survivors include her sisters Norma Hiers of Macy, Indiana; Alex Shigemura of Hawaii; and Dorothy “Dottie” Greer of Peru. Linda was also survived by several nieces and nephews, living throughout Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Florida and Hawaii.

Linda was a homemaker, business woman, entrepreneur as well as a retiree from American Stationary, Building commissioner from Bunker Hill, and Band Secretary for Maconaquah Marching Band Boosters, Bunker Hill, Indiana. Linda was a very Family oriented person and helped care for several family members over the years and was always on the run helping those in need with one thing or another. Linda enjoyed filling her time with family, sewing, embroidery, gardening, bible study with her sister, Baking and cake decorating and so much more.

Linda was preceded in death by her mother and father, Brothers Robert and George Pope, sisters Janet Bailey, Marilyn Merrick and Patricia Sims, and brother Cecil Jr.
