Descendant of Col John Pitts.

Rebecca was born about 1837, the 7th of 9 children to John R Pitts and Nancy Alice Horton. Her siblings were: Margaret, Thomas, Hardy, Nancy, Benjamin, William Riley, Jordan B, and Horton.

She married before 1857 to Henry Harrison Spires, son of John Ganzer Spires and Sarah Hadland. She was about 20 years old. They had at least 3 children together:
