Biography

Magdalena Pieters was born (according to her marriage record) in Alkmaar (North Holland), Netherlands. She was documented in at least one New Netherland record as Magdaleen Pieters van Langendyck, so Langendijck (which is very near Alkmaar) is also a candidate for her birthplace.

Her recorded age at marriage indicates that she was born in about 1623. Some of the online family trees and similar sources cited in profiles contributed by WikiTree members indicated a birth dates of 8 February 1622 or 8 February 1623; the basis for this specific birthday is not determined.

Magdalena Pieters of Alckmaer married Aucke Janss from de N(u)ys in Amsterdam, Netherlands. They registered their intentions of marriage on 25 March 1645 and their third banns were read on 23 April. She was 22 years old and he was 23. [1]

Death and Burial

She died in Breuckelen, New Netherland (now Brooklyn, New York), some time before 27 September 1662, when the Consistory of the Reformed Dutch Church there received her husband's request for a fence to protect her grave. As translated and transcribed, the record states:[10]

Aucke Jans made application to enclose part of the cemetery where his wife Magdaleen Pieters van Langendyck lies buried. We replied him that we had no ownership in the cemetery, but that we would ask the court of Breuckelen to close in the whole cemetery with a clapboard fence, which is necessary for protection against the swine, which root up the graves.

On 25 October 1662 it was reported that, in regard to the proper fencing of the Breuckelen cemetery, the court of Breuckelen left it entirely to the Rev. consistory of Breuckelen. Accordingly, the consistory requested preacher Henricus Selyns and deacon Jan Jorissen to give the job out as soon as possible, and they in turn gave the job of constructing a clapboard fence to Aucke Jans, at a price of 70 guilders, in seawant.[11]

Langendijck-1 and Pieters-481 appear to represent the same person because: it is clear from the names, dates, and connected family members that these are the same person (part of a set of duplicate profiles).

The geo pin now is taking us to the correct place, Langedijck was a small village and near Alkmaar , so it's possible for registrations and baptisms and so on people from Langedijck went to Alkmaar (According the marriage she was from Alckmaer) See :Wikipedia Langedijk

Dyke-92 and Pieterse-5 appear to represent the same person because: I finally figured out that this stray profile is a match of this NNS PPP, so we can merge it away. No tree conflicts. Ignore all the data like Holland, Reusel-de-Miereden, which is bogus from an old Family Tree Maker autocomplete for Holland. Thanks!

Pieterse-159 and Pieterse-5 appear to represent the same person because: This late birth date 1644 is probably just a typo from Ancestry source, with mother at age 52, so let's just merge this extra profile away into the NNS PPP, because it is just meaningless clutter otherwise. Thanks!

Pieterse-527 and Pieterse-5 appear to represent the same person because: This recently imported duplicate is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge into the NNS PPP. No tree conflicts. We might want to keep from this match the exact birth date Born February 8, 1622. Thanks!

Langendyck-5 and Pieterse-5 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge. No tree conflicts. These matches have been reviewed by the New Netherland Settlers Merge Approval System, and the "Green" destination NNS profile is protected as PPP, and the "Merge Pending" profile is now ready and able to be merged into it. I saved the data to the bios. Thanks!

Pieterse-157 and Pieterse-5 appear to represent the same person because: they were in an unmerged match & the New Netherland Settlers Approval System (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:New_Netherland_Settlers_-_Approval_System) now has them marked "Green" (NNS Category) and "Orange" (Merge Pending), indicating that the two are ready to be merged. Thanks!
