Biography

Edmond George Petty-Fitzmaurice, 1st Baron Fitzmaurice PC born 19 June 1846 died 21 June 1935, styled Lord Edmond FitzMaurice from 1863 to 1906, was a British Liberal politician who served as Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs from 1883 to 1885 and from 1905 to 1908, when he entered the cabinet as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster under H. H. Asquith. However, illness forced him to resign the following year.

Edmond George Petty Fitzmaurice was the author of 'Speech of Lord Edmond Fitzmaurice : On Mr. Bruce's Motion Relating to Eastern Affairs' (1876) and 'Life of William, Earl of Shelburne, Afterwards First Marquess of Landsdowne' by Edmond George Petty Fitzmaurice also 'Charles William Ferdinand Duke of Brunswick : an historical study : 1735-1806' by Edmund George Petty Fitzmaurice. He also wrote:- 'The Life Of Granville George Leveson Gower: Second Earl Granville, K. G., 1815-1891' by Baron Edmond George Petty-Fitzmaurice and 'Dandy dolls' by Fitzmaurice, Edmond George Petty-Fitzmaurice, Baron, 1846-1935 new Publication by ReInk Books (2015)
