Biography

Geoffrey Kelsall was born before 1878. He was the son of William Peto.

Marriages and Family

He married, firstly, Pauline Quirin, daughter of William Quirin, on 1 July 1903.1 He married, secondly, Edna Frances Hilton, daughter of Edward Banker Hilton, on 9 October 1951.2

Career

He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.
Fought in the First World War.
Gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry.
Appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.
Held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Frome between 1924 and 1929. [1]
Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary for Mines in 1926.1 :Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Under-Secretary of India in 1928.
Parliamentary Private Secretary to the president of the Board of Trade between 1931 and 1935.
Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wolverhampton Bilston between 1931 and 1935.
Chairman of the Food Council between 1936 and 1939.
Member of the Runciman Mission to Czechoslovakia in 1938.
Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1939.
Director of the Projectile Contingents of the Ministry of Munitions.
Deputy Regional Civil Defence Commissioner for the South West Division :between 1939 and 1940.
Regional Civil Defence Commissioner for the South West Division in 1940.
Regional Controller of the Ministry of Supply for the Southern Region between 1941 and 1945.

Death

He died on 8 January 1956, aged 77.
