She was noted as born 1840 in Georgia as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are male John C Bates, female Martha A Bates, female Maybelle Bates, female Ina E Bates, male James Peeler, female Amanda Peeler, male James M Peeler, male Mallard L Peeler, male Jacob H Peeler, female Josephene Peeler and female Lelia A Smith.^[1]

Sarah M Joice was enumerated at Atlanta Post Office, Ward 5, Winn Parish, Louisiana for the August 7, United States Census, 1870. She was noted as born 1839-1840 in Alabama and at home as seen in this image of the original census. Sara M Joyce was enumerated as self at Precinct 6, Milam County, Texas for the June 8, United States Census, 1880. She was noted as a music teacher, born 1840 in Alabama and widowed as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are daughter Mattie A Joyce and son Aansun J Joyce.^[3]

Sarah M Joice was enumerated as mother of the head of household in Justice Precinct 1, Jones County, Texas for the June 25, United States Census, 1900. She was noted as born May 1841 in Louisiana and widowed. She was the mother of four children of which all were still living. Also included in the household are head James A Joice, wife Hellen Joice, daughter Sarah M Joice, son Paul Joice and daughter Marian Joice as seen in an image of the original census.^[4]

Sarah M. Joyce died April 29, 1924 in Benson, Cochise County, Arizona. Her husband was listed as A. J. Joyce, her father James Peder and her mother Amanda Togless as seen in an image of the original certificate of death.^[5]

Sarah Margaret Peeler was listed as the mother of Anderson Joyce who died March 14, 1935 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. The father was listed as Andrew Jackson Joyce and the wife Helen Joyce.^[6]
