Biography
Prideaux Paterson (also Patterson), son of Henry Paterson (1811-bef.1888) and Jean (Collin) Paterson (1807-1886), was born at Spittal, Tweedmouth, Northumberland, England, and baptised on 22 September 1833 at Tweedmouth, Northumberland, England.[1][2][3]
In 1841, seven year old Prideaux was with his parents and siblings at Shore, Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland, where his father's occupation was Cooper[4] In 1851, 17 year old Prideaux was a Boatbuilder living at Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland with his parents and siblings.[5]
Prideaux Paterson and Chistina Gibson were married sometime before 1857. Children from this marriage were:

In 1861, Prideaux, Christina and their three young children were at Eyemouth where Prideaux was a Boatbuilder. [6] In 1871 the family were at St Ellas Place in Eyemouth where Prideaux was a Journeyman Boat Builder with his son Henry as an apprentice.[7] The family remained at St Ellas, Eyemouth until Prideaux's death in 1913[8][9] where Prideaux was a Boatbuilder until before 1901 by which time he had given up boat builbing and was a Labourer.[10][11]
Prideaux's wife, Christina Gibson died on 27 February 1910 at St Ellas Place, Eyemouth, Berwick, Scotland.[12]
Prideaux died at St Ellas, Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland of Senile Decay at age 79 on 17 April 1913.[13]

Census records have his birth in Eyemouth (where all his siblings were born) but his baptism has Spittal, Northumberland as birth place.
