Biography
Jane (Paterson) Nisbet was born in Scotland.
Janet Paterson, daughter of John Paterson and Jane Purves, was born on 18 April 1831 at Green Rig, Swinton, Berwickshire, Scotland, and was baptised at Swinton and Simprim, Berwickshire, Scotland.[1]
In 1841, 9 year old Janet was with her parents and sister at Chirnside, Berwickshire, Scotland.[2] In 1851, 20 year old Janet living with the Robertsons at Gunsgreen Hill, Netherbyres, Eyemouth, Berwickshire. She was a servant, probably at Netherbyres House next door to Gunsgreen Hill.[3][4]
Peter Nisbet and Janet Paterson were married at Lamberton Toll, Berwickshire, Scotland in 1852.[5]Children from this marriage were:
- George Nisbet (1853-1925) was baptised on 17 January 1853 at Eyemouth.[6][7]
- John Nisbet (1855-1930) was born on 19 January 1855 in Eyemouth.[8][9]

After their marriage, Peter with occupation Carter, Janet and family were at Main Street West Side, Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland.[33][34] By 1871 Janet and family had moved to Church Street, Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland,[35][36] where they still were in 1881[37][38] to 1891.[39]
Janet died at age 65 on 16 (17 on Memorial Inscription) November 1897 at Church Street, Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland, of Valvular disease of the Heart[40] and was buried in Eyemouth Cemetery, Eyemouth.[41]
