Biography

Edwin Dennis Paterson was born on 4th January 1891 at Buckingham, South Australia, Australia. His parents were John Paterson and Elizabeth Dennis.[1] [2] Buckingham is a small village near Mundullah, South Australia.

When he enlisted in the AIF during World War I, he was a master butcher.

Edwin Dennis Paterson married Elizabeth Rita Jacobs on 29th January 1920 at the residence of Mrs. Youlton, Willunga, South Australia, Australia.[4]The marriage was reported in "The Wooroora Producer", Balaklava, SA, Thu 12 Feb 1920;

A quiet wedding was celebrated at Willunga on Thursday, January 29th, when Miss Rita E Jacobs, eldest daughter of the late Mr Lilini Jacobs, and grand daughter of Mrs Youlton, of Willunga, was married to Mr Edwin Dennis Paterson (late corporal 8th Battery, A.F.A , 3rd Brigade), second son of the late Mr Paterson formerly of Tatiara, Moonta and Strathalbyn, and Mrs Paterson, late of Port Broughton and Willunga, and now cf Balaklava. The Rev. Mr Meeke, of the Church of Christ, Adelaide—an old friend of the family—performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Howard J. Jacobs, was tastefully attired in a travelling costume of navy blue cloth coat and skirt with crepe-de-chise blouse and pretty grey hat and blue veil. The ceremony was followed by luncheon, after which the happy pair left for Victor Harbor to spend the honeymoon.[5]

Edwin and Elizabeth Paterson had five children.
