Biography

Thomas Parks was the son of John Parks or 'Purk', 'Perkes' of Stoneleigh and his wife Hannah Lee. His parents were married at Stoneleigh on October 1st ,1702. The name was written as Perkes in the register for the marriage. In 1715 the baptism is recorded as Thomas Purk son of John Purk and Hannah his wife.

Thomas married Mary Higginson in Coventry on September 3rd, 1733, when he was 18 years old and she was 21 years old.

They had the following children, John baptised 1736, Mary 1742, Benjamin 1746, Joseph 1749, Mary 1756,. "Thomas Parks from the Moat House was buried Jan 29th" 1775. Stoneleigh Church register.

Note: although documentation of the birth of John Parks' other son William is hard to find, a putative descendant of William's, (Jonathan Blagburn), does share autosomal DNA with descendants of Thomas' great-grandson Sir Henry Parkes (Raven (Gormly) Manners, MRCA = 7.4 gen).
