He and Mehitable Gillings, daughter of Nathaniel Gillings and Sarah (Blake) Gillings, had their marriage published on 13 March 1758 at Braintree, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts. [1][3][2]
He lived in 1765 at Rutland, Massachusetts. He served in the Revolutionary war, in Capt. Benjamin Phillip's company, Col. Elisha Porter's (Hampshire County) regiment from July 10, 1777 - Aug 4, 1777 with the rank of Pvt. [3][2]
Joseph died on 17 April 1822 at Ashfield, Franklin Co., Massachusetts, at age 86 and was buried at Baptist Corners Cemetery, G.R. 7, Ashfield, Franklin Co., Massachusetts.[2][3] His memorial has a photo and links to those of family members.[4]
