Thomas was born in 1793. He was the son of Arthur Orr and Ann Ryburn.
Thomas married Elizabeth Jones on 26 Oct 1815 in Washington county, Virginia. They had eleven children with nine known.
They moved to Randolph county, Illinois by 1818. They moved with his brother Joseph's family.[1]
They were in Randolph county in 1820.[2] The household included one white male above 21 years of age (Thomas) and three other white inhabitants (presumably Elizabeth and two children). In 1825, they were in Williamsburg in Randolph county.[3] They were still in Randolph in 1830.[4]
Thomas and family moved to Pike county, Illinois by 1840, settling in Kinderhook in Barry township.[5]
They were living in Pike county in 1850.[6] In addition to their family, an Ann Jones (single) was living in the household (sister to Elizabeth?), also a 5 year old Sarah Scott from Virginia (grandchild? niece?) Thomas was listed as born in Pennsylvania; Elizabeth and Ann as born in Tennessee. His nephew James Orr and wife Nancy Hull were living in the adjacent Thomas Hull household. They were in Kinderhook township in 1860.[7] In addition to Sarah Scott, a William Scott age 12, born in Illinois, was included in the household. Their grandson Thomas Hamilton, son of their deceased daughter Eliza (Orr) Hamilton, was also in the household.
In 1870, they were living in Kinderhook with their daughter Julia (Orr) Petit and her son Rosalvo Petit.[8]
He passed away in 1873 and was buried in Akers Chapel cemetery in Hull, Pike county, Illinois.[9]
