Married
25 May 1762
Southdean, Roxburghshire, Scotland [1]
Southdean OPR reads: "Abbotrule 25 May 1762 James Sinton in this parish and Janet Oliver in the parish of Hobkirk gave up their names to be proclaimed for marriage etc", but to be fair to the transcribers, the 5 of the 25 could be open to conjecture (I like the etc!!).
The Hobkirk side of this event is a cash book entry for the parish showing 1/2½d collected May 9th "Recd from the following parties at their proclamation for marriage viz James Sinton in Abbotrule & Janet Oliver in Unthank", (the next entry was for a Gideon Leggat in Unthank and Margt Oliver in Abbotrule).
