I am a retired Professional Land Surveyor in New Zealand. Researching old plans, maps and records for work meant genealogy was a natural fit as a hobby. I started researching my family tree after discussions with my wife's Aunt and signed up on Ancestry in 2007. The rest as they say is history. My main areas of research are the UK (Scotland, Yorkshire and Kent) and New Zealand. I am more than willing to connect with kindred genealogists and cousins no matter how distant. My wife thinks I’m nuts but I also quite enjoy finding headstones for people on Find A Grave. I see it as giving back to all the people who do the same for me.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
