Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. Michelle ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hello, my name is Jason Lawson. My genealogy quest began by trying to find the origins of my surname for my family. Thanks to Y-DNA I was able to discover that due to a non-paternal event, that my male lineage was actually Newell. This surprise inspired me to investigate other lines in my family, on both sides, and brought me many surprises (through my maternal grandmothers adoption) various divorces and the expansion of my tree through many "half-siblings" I did not know my grandparents had, it has inspired me to continue to expand my tree and work with others. My goal presently is to uncover my maternal grandfather's family, the details of his parents are fuzzy and thus we have not been able to extend any branches for that line of our family tree. This community seems like a great chance

Hi! I see you have added your DNA test information. Did you know we have a project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? If you are interested and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.
Hi Jason,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the bit tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.

Shirley
