Jay Morgan

Thank you for the great research efforts and work compiling an accurate history of Miles Morgan. I am new to Wikitree and a direct descendant of Miles Morgan and Elizabeth Bliss. We noticed the age issues with William of Dderw, Elizabeth Morgan and Miles Morgan, as well, and hope to some day find documentation of our heritage path in Northwest Europe.

Dear cousin Jay Morgan, thank you for your kind message. If you would like to know more about some of our Morgan cousins I would be glad to share some of the things I have found. I descend from Miles' son David Morgan which you may have viewed already. There are other interesting things I have read in some of these lines from Miles. Financier J.P. Morgan's line comes from your Nathaniel Morgan too. In viewing some of his descendants I found some interesting stories. Read about J.P.'s daughter Anne Tracy Morgan. His great-grandson was married to the late Senator John McCain's sister. Miles' eldest son was Jonathan Morgan. He has some interesting descendants which include a patriot, land lottery speculator, murderer, Confederate General, confederate officers, the wives of Confederate Generals. One was married to the grand-daughter of Francis Scott Key. Their descendants went on to do amazing work in medical research such as the polio vaccine, and DNA sequencing. The unit centimorgans [cM] was named after geneticist Thomas Hunt Morgan. These are used when you have your DNA tested through sites like Ancestry. His daughter was also a researcher who worked on the polio vaccine. General David Bannister Morgan was second in command under Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans. He descends from my David Morgan line too. If you like I can share their Wiki-tree #'s so you can check them out. Unfortunately there is still much incorrect info on Miles Morgan out there from earlier publications. I have been messaging some of these trying to have them correct what they have. These include Find A Grave. I just messaged the memorial managers again. Many do not belong to Wiki-tree and are not believing their sources are wrong.

Jay Ingalls

I have more than 50,000 descendants of Edmund Ingalls in my Legacy genealogy program. He came to the USA in 1628. I am too old and do not have time to do what it looks like WikiTree requires to add any of this data to this site. Is there anyone who might want to work on this?

Jay thank you for reaching out about this. I am going through some health issues. Like you I am reaching an age where someone younger and with better computer skills needs to take the reigns. I too descend from Edmund Ingalls and would like to see his legacy continued. I have had some special connections to this line pop up over the past few years. My line and President James Garfield connect through Patriot Henry Ingalls and wife Sybil Carpenter who descends from the Mayflower Billington family. Charles Ingalls the person for whom the "Little House" book and TV series is based was born in Cuba, N.Y. as was my mother and aunts. I connected with someone who connects to both the Garfield family and Cary Ingalls the daughter of the previously mentioned Charles Ingalls. Charles Ingalls' parents were married in Holland, N.Y. a place I drove through many times visiting family. His Delano ancestors lived and are buried in Allegany and Cattarraugus County as are many of mine. I can go on and on. I believe Edmund Ingalls is appreciative of everyone who works on these lines as he watches over us.

Hi Ken,

As a courtesy, I added you as profile manager for Mary and the other Morgan profiles which I created. Profiles can be created at anytime, it doesn't have to be based on whether they are part of your direct family tree. Members do not maintain individual trees (like Ancestry.com) but instead contribute to a single collaborative tree. I hope this answers your question. Elida

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

Wikitree is different, because we have one goal: To have one big Global tree. This means we have one profile per person, and we collaborate as one big team.
